Adam & Katey
Thank you for viewing our profile! We know you are in the midst of making such a huge decision for your child, and we want you to know how much we admire your bravery and courage. Being parents has been the greatest blessing of our lives, and we are so excited to grow our family through adoption and bring home a precious baby to shower with love and support.
Why We Chose Adoption

Our journey to parenthood has been very difficult. We have a long history of both primary and secondary infertility with loss. We started trying to conceive when we had been married about 6 months. About 6 years into that wait, we agreed to "give it one more year" before we pursued a different path to parenthood, which would have been adoption. The very next month, we received the shock of our lives when we found out we were expecting our daughter Karalie. Less than a year later we started trying again. Since then, we've experienced several very early losses and one devastating later miscarriage. After taking the time we needed to grieve that loss, we decided together that it's the right time to pursue adoption to expand our family.
Adoption has always been something we've talked about and were very open to the idea of--we just feel like now is the right time. We know from personal experience that love is what makes a family, not blood relationships. While we were dating, Katey's family adopted her younger sister, who was 3 and in China at the time. We know that our family would not have been whole without her, and that God had a plan for her and for all of us. Our families are very supportive of our decision to adopt, and we have no doubt that any child who joins our family will be fully and completely loved, accepted, and cherished.
Our Leisure Time

We love to spend time together with our little family or to gather with our extended family and friends. Adam's favorite hobbies include gaming (video games, tabletop games, or board games) and tinkering in his workshop. He has become quite skilled in woodworking, metalworking, and leatherworking, to name a few activities. Katey also enjoys a bit of gaming, but she mostly loves reading, decorating, watching TV, and listening to music. She has dabbled in sewing (mostly to make doll clothes for her sister and now our daughter), and recently, she has been learning to bake and decorate cakes. We have taken on many home projects together over the years, including putting up a backsplash and installing flooring, building or refinishing numerous pieces of furniture, and finishing a few gardening projects. We've been involved in several board gaming groups together as well. We love to read, sharing our favorite books with each other. We also love to introduce our daughter to our favorite childhood books, movies, and games.
Pepper & Honey

Throughout our entire marriage, pets have always been a big part of our home. In addition to having an adorable furry friend, we think pets are such a special way to teach children about responsibility, kindness, and gentleness. After losing our beloved cocker spaniel to cancer, we decided to try something different, and we added a bunny rabbit to our household! We now have two Holland Lop bunnies, named Pepper and Honey, and we absolutely love them! Pepper and Honey love to explore our home (supervised of course!), hop in our laps, and nibble on some yummy lettuce. They have undoubtedly chosen our daughter as their favorite person, and they are precious together. We love watching them interact, and seeing how helping to care for Pepper and Honey is also helping Karalie grow into a more mature, responsible kid. Having bunnies is different from the dogs and cats we grew up with, but it is so rewarding in so many ways!

Our House and Neighborhood

We live on 2 acres in a smaller community located outside of a big city in Alabama. We love that we get to experience the best of both worlds—outdoor space and country living, as well as all the opportunities the city has to offer.

We have a 4-bedroom house with a large, fenced backyard, and a huge driveway that is perfect for riding bikes. Katey designed the floorplan herself, and a few years ago, we were able to work with a builder to make that dream a reality. Adam loves his workshop, where he enjoys working on his many fun projects.
Our neighbors are wonderful, and we only live 10 minutes from Katey's parents! We have lots of friends and family nearby, and we attend a wonderful church with amazing people and a great kids program.
Our favorite things about the community we live in are the emphasis placed on learning and innovation and the many family-friendly opportunities and activities available to us here, from dance class to space camp!
Our Extended Families

We are both blessed with large extended families, many of whom live nearby! We are so thankful that our daughter (and any children who join our family in the future!) will grow up with amazing grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Katey's parents and three siblings are local, and we love to get together with them regularly to celebrate holidays, graduations, birthdays, etc., or just to swim in Naenae and Baba's pool! One of our favorite traditions is to pick out matching pajamas for the grandkids to wear together at Christmas Eve. Most of Katey's extended family members live within a few hours from here. Adam's parents live a short drive away, and they often join Katey's family for holidays and events. The rest of his siblings and cousins are spread out all over the country, but we like to meet up with them for big family trips together whenever possible, like at the beach or the mountains, and we stay in touch through the phone! Our families are very supportive of our adoption hopes, and adoption in general. They are so excited to welcome another child into the family!

From Us to You

First of all, thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We can only imagine what you're going through right now and what has brought you to the important decision before you. Above all else, we are praying for you and your precious baby, that you'll make the best decision possible and be at peace with what you end up deciding.
We met in 2010 and married the following year after a long-distance relationship. Even though we grew up on opposite sides of the country, we believe we were meant for each other. Choosing our relationship was not the "easy" path, especially at first, but it was the right one for us, and it has been so worth it. We've had our share of heartache along the way, dealing with infertility and miscarriage. After a long journey with primary infertility, we finally had our daughter Karalie in 2018. We have always imagined having at least two children, but unfortunately, the closest we have gotten was a devastating miscarriage. This was so hard for all of us, Karalie included. She is such a deep-feeling kid, and she prays for a baby brother or sister every single night. We know that she will be the best big sister a child could ask for. After a lot of time spent healing, we are excited about looking to the future and growing our family via adoption.
Adoption has always been on our hearts, but we feel like everything has fallen into place, and now is finally the right time. We have a wonderful support system. Our families are so excited, and they will absolutely welcome any child who joins our family with wide open arms and so much love. Katey's sister was adopted, and we are all familiar with what a blessing that is. We live in a wonderful community where we get the best of both worlds--the experience of country life and the opportunities of being close to a city. We have family nearby, and we are part of an amazing local church. Adam works from home as a software engineer, and Katey is a math instructor at a community college. We both appreciate the flexibility and security that our jobs have offered us, allowing us to spend plenty of time focusing on our family. Our home is full of love and laughter, and we can't wait to share all of that with our future child.
Please know that if you choose our family for your child, we will dedicate our lives to loving and caring for that child, and to being the best parents we can be. We are beyond honored that you might even consider us as potential parents for your baby. We promise to send you updates throughout the child's life, including pictures and letters, and we will keep in contact through phone and email, if you're comfortable with that. Should you choose us, your child will grow up knowing his/her story at an age-appropriate level, and we will make sure that he or she knows that we respect you and the courageous, selfless decision you made for your baby. Thank you again for taking the time to get to know us a little better. We wish you all the best.
Sincerely,
Adam & Katey
