Our Individual Strengths

A Friend's Wedding in Texas

We are a couple who deeply value connection, perspective, and creating a loving, stable home. Our strengths complement each other and help us grow as individuals and as partners. Ben is a secure, and authentic person with a strong work ethic and an easy sense of humor. He's the kind of person who makes others feel comfortable right away—always putting people first, even in high-pressure situations. His kindness, emotional steadiness, and ability to connect with others are just a few of the many qualities that will make him a nurturing, dependable father.

Audrey brings deep compassion and kindness to everything she does. She has a gift for making others feel heard and cared for. Her experience as a mentor and her commitment to service reflect her loving, patient nature. At the same time, she balances a successful career with close relationships, joy, and dedication to physical and mental health. She leads with grace, strength, and consistency.

Together, we've built a home grounded in love, respect, and a strong sense of community. We support each other wholeheartedly, and we're excited to raise a child in an environment where they will be deeply loved, supported, and encouraged to be fully themselves.

Our Family Traditions

Sunset at the Beach

One of our favorite family traditions is spending the holidays on the coast of Florida with our extended family. It's a peaceful, laid-back place where time seems to slow down—perfect for reconnecting with family and making lasting memories.

This tradition began nearly 30 years ago after Audrey's grandmother lost her husband and wanted to create a new, comforting way to spend the holidays. Since then, it's become a beloved annual gathering, with grandparents, aunts, uncles, siblings, cousins, and lots of children coming together. Each family rents a nearby house or condo, and evenings are filled with shared meals, home-cooked dishes, laughter, and games.

Audrey has countless happy memories of those trips—playing on the beach with her cousins, swimming in the pool, riding around in golf carts, playing tennis, and having bonfires as the sun set. It's a place full of joy and connection, and we often imagine sharing it with a child of our own someday—watching them run along the sand, join the cousin crew, and become part of this beautiful family tradition.

Cultural Diversity

Addressing cultural diversity as parents of an adopted child—especially if the child comes from a different cultural, racial, or ethnic background—is a deeply meaningful and important responsibility. We believe in the importance of a child knowing where they come from and feeling connected to their roots. We plan to support cultural diversity by acknowledging, incorporating, and celebrating a child's unique cultural heritage while providing a diverse community in which they feel welcome. This includes learning about and honoring their cultural traditions, holidays, and history, as well as integrating books, music, art, and food from their background into our lives. We will seek out diverse schools, social settings, and mentorship opportunities so our child sees themselves reflected in the world around them. We are committed to having open, age-appropriate conversations about race, identity, and adoption, and to supporting our child as they navigate those aspects of who they are. We recognize that we may not have all the answers, and we are open to listening, learning, and adjusting along the way. Most importantly, we want our child to feel proud of their heritage and empowered to embrace all parts of their identity. Our goal is to create a home and community where they feel safe, celebrated, and truly seen.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We recently settled in a welcoming, mid-sized South Carolina city that beautifully blends the charm of a small town with the amenities of a larger urban area. With a mild climate year-round, we enjoy easy access to outdoor adventures—whether it's lakeside weekends, hiking in the nearby mountains, or exploring local parks and trails.

Our Backyard

Our neighborhood is an ideal place to raise a family. It's safe, friendly, and full of life, with children often playing or biking down our street. The community organizes many family-oriented events throughout the year, including a festive and much-anticipated Halloween trick-or-treating party. We're also just minutes away from excellent elementary schools, playgrounds, pools, libraries, and vibrant downtown attractions like the zoo and children's museum.

Our home itself offers plenty of room to grow and host loved ones, with four spacious bedrooms and four bathrooms. The front porch and garden create a warm, welcoming entrance, while the large, fenced backyard and deck provide the perfect setting for kids to play, explore, and enjoy the outdoors safely.

It's a space—and a community—where children thrive and families feel truly at home.

Our Extended Families

Audrey's Family

Our extended families are a huge part of our lives and a constant source of love and support. We're lucky to have close relationships with our parents, siblings, and extended family members, and we make many visits throughout the year to spend time together. Everyone is thrilled about our plans to adopt and excited to welcome a new child with open hearts!

Ben's Family

Audrey's parents, older sister, and younger brother live in Michigan. We love visiting them in the summer and they often visit us in the winter to escape the snow. Audrey's extended family is spread across the country, but we gather every summer at family cottages on Lake Michigan and come together again over the winter holidays, renting homes on a small island in Florida. These lively reunions include aunts, uncles, cousins, kids, and dogs—filled with beach time, swimming, games, and shared meals.

Ben's parents live in New York, and his siblings are in Massachusetts, San Francisco, and Chicago. We have both a niece and a nephew on Ben's side, and we absolutely love spending time with them. We recently began a new tradition of choosing a summer location for a reunion with everyone. This year, we're headed to California and rented a home together near the ocean.

From Us to You

First and foremost, we want to thank you for taking the time to consider us as potential adoptive parents for your child. We want to acknowledge how complex and emotional this time may be for you. Please know that we hold your choice, and your story, in deep respect.

We've been together for ten years and married for five. We have built a life together rooted in love, mutual respect, and a shared vision for the future. After many years of thoughtful reflection, we chose adoption as the path to parenthood best suited for us and our values. We believe that family is made through love, not just biology, and we are ready to welcome a child into our lives with open hearts, arms, and minds.

We have so much love to give and feel deeply called to share our lives with a child. Our home is filled with laughter, warmth, creativity, and connection. We're committed to a parenting approach that centers on gentleness, empathy, and communication. We want to raise a child who feels safe, heard, and deeply valued. Our goal is to create a joyful, rewarding life for them in which they are free to explore who they are and feel confident knowing we will support them. One of the most important commitments we're making as future parents is to support a child's unique interests, talents, and identity - no matter what those might be. Regardless of their dreams, we will be there to help them grow and cheer them on.

As medical professionals, we also bring a unique set of skills and experiences that prepare us well for parenthood. We understand the importance of emotional and physical development. We are equipped to handle both everyday care and any challenges that may arise with calm, informed compassion. Our training and experience have given us a deep understanding of children's needs and how to nurture their well-being from day one.

We are fortunate to have the resources to provide a solid foundation for a child, including access to quality education, healthcare, and extracurricular opportunities. Just as important, we have a strong and welcoming network of family and friends who are excited to embrace a new child with open hearts. Our extended family is diverse, inclusive, and full of people who value love, acceptance, and celebration of individuality. Together we have many cousins, nieces, and nephews including biologic, adopted, and donor-conceived children.

We also want you to know that we are fully committed to an open adoption, to the extent that you feel comfortable and desire. We believe in the importance of a child knowing where they come from and feeling connected to their roots. We are open to including important cultural traditions or values. We're happy to share letters and pictures, exchange emails or phone calls, and even plan visits if that feels right for you. Your role in your child's life will always be honored and respected in whatever way you see best fit.

This decision is yours, and we understand the weight of that responsibility. Whatever path you choose, we wish you peace, clarity, and comfort. Thank you again for considering us. If you choose us to be your child's adoptive parents, we promise to provide them with unconditional love, a stable home, and every opportunity to thrive.

With deep respect and gratitude,

Ben & Audrey
