Adoption in Our Lives

Father's Day at Church

Becoming parents through adoption has been one of the greatest joys of our lives. From the moment Drew was placed in our arms, we felt an immediate connection to him. What surprised us most was how natural it felt. It was as if he had always been a part of our family. Getting to know his birth mother during her pregnancy and delivery was also such a meaningful experience for us, one that gave us a deeper appreciation for adoption as a whole.

Having Drew has brought new purpose to our lives. Whether it's going on walks as a family or watching him discover the world, he constantly reminds us to slow down and see life through fresh eyes. Now that he's two, he has such a big personality. We love developing our own little routines, having "inside jokes," and hearing his infectious laughter fill our home.

We know that Drew will be a wonderful big brother. Around other babies, he is gentle and curious, balancing his high energy with a kind heart. We can already picture him holding a sibling's hand on our evening walks, showing them how to kick a ball in the backyard, or making them laugh with his silly dances. What excites us most is not just watching them play together, but seeing Drew grow into the role of protector, encourager, and lifelong friend. Because he, too, joined our family through adoption, we believe he will share a uniquely special bond with a brother or sister.

Our Lifestyle

At the Park With Friends

Our family enjoys both the simple routines of everyday life and the fun of weekend adventures. In the fall, Saturdays are often filled with college football. We cheer on our favorite teams while Drew throws his football around the living room, mimicking the players on TV. On other weekends, we love starting the day with coffee and donuts before heading to a park to let Drew run and explore giving us a chance to chat and connect as we push him on the swings or down the slide.

Individually, Maggie enjoys jigsaw puzzles, reading, and the occasional Sudoku, while David finds joy in playing the piano. Some of our favorite moments lately have been when Drew climbs into David's lap and "plays" along with him, thrilled by the sound each key makes. As a family, we love walking to our church playground and hosting spontaneous kitchen dance parties. Drew especially loves dancing to oldies, which always brings smiles and laughter.

Friends often describe our home as cozy, safe, and welcoming. We love creating a space where people can both laugh until they cry or feel comfortable sharing life's challenges. We hope our house will always be a place where our children (and their friends) feel free to gather, play, and grow up surrounded by love and belonging.

Qualities We Admire in Each Other

Celebrating Our Anniversary

One of the things that makes our marriage strong is how much we truly admire one another. David loves Maggie's drive and the way she pours her heart into everything she does. But what he appreciates most is how she combines that determination with a joyful spirit. As a mom, Maggie shows a loving patience with Drew that makes every day feel fun and safe. She is intentional about teaching him new skills while also filling his childhood with laughter and lighthearted moments.

Maggie admires David's steady patience and his natural ability to connect with people. As a father, those qualities shine in the way he relates to Drew. He talks to him on his level, whether they're playing pretend, reading a book, or tossing a ball in the yard. David's gift for turning ordinary moments into special ones is one of the things that makes him such a wonderful dad.

Together, our strengths complement each other in ways that make family life rich and joyful. We love spending time as a family, whether that's taking walks to church, exploring a park, or laughing together at home. And we also cherish the different ways each of us connects with Drew. We know these same qualities will continue to guide us as we welcome your son or daughter, creating a home filled with balance, laughter, and love.

Our House and Neighborhood

Our Home

We have a three-bedroom, two-bathroom single story house that we enjoy re-decorating and always improving as long as we've lived here. We love our home and our neighborhood, and we know they're the perfect place for us to continue growing our family.

We live in a wonderful neighborhood outside the city. We're just miles from downtown where there are countless restaurants, parks, kids activities, sporting events, churches, concerts and more. But even though we're close to the city, our neighborhood is quiet, with large yards and mature trees. It's the best of both worlds!

Along with some of our closest neighbors, we throw an annual July 4th gathering that draws the entire street to celebrate with fireworks, grilling, and kids games. It's become our favorite tradition and an amazing way to connect with our neighbors. Many of the houses on our street and neighboring streets have young kids. The neighborhood kids all play together, often inviting our dog, Mopsy, to run around with them.

There is an elementary school with a park attached that we walk to, and along the way we pass many friendly neighbor faces. Our church is also in our neighborhood. Many of our neighbors attend church with us, which helps create a really close-knit community.

Our Extended Families

Drew With Dave's Parents & His Cousins

Having been together since high school, we have truly become part of each other's families. Between our five collective siblings, we have fourteen nieces and nephews, ranging from ages 6 to 23! Being an aunt/uncle has been a rewarding experience, watching our nieces and nephews grow and change through every life phase. They are all ready and excited for us to grow our family!

Maggie's Family

We're from the same hometown, so traveling to see our families is a huge priority to us. It's fun for us to imagine introducing a child to them at a Christmas gathering or a family beach vacation, as we thoroughly enjoyed introducing them to our adopted child a couple of years ago. Our parents make a point of visiting us and our moms are both known to visit even more whenever there are grandkids around!

Whenever we crave family time on short notice, we love hanging out with Maggie's cousin, his wife, and their two young kids, who live a few minutes away. We often join them for a cookout or an afternoon of watching football. After living in the same town for 10 years, we've made some amazing friends who have consistently been there for us, and now feel like family. Whenever friends come to our house they can expect a good laugh, some delicious homemade food, and staying longer than anticipated. Both near and far, we have a supportive community that's here for us and for our future family.

From Us to You

Thank you so much for taking the time to read about our family and for considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We know the decisions you are facing are heavy, and we do not take lightly the privilege of sharing our story with you. Our hope is that these words give you a true picture of who we are, what life is like in our home, and the kind of love your child would be surrounded by here.

We have been married for 13 years, but our story began more than 22 years ago when we started dating in high school. Over the years we've built a life rooted in laughter, faith, and partnership. We know that marriage requires patience, teamwork, and a strong foundation, and those qualities have carried us through many seasons of life. They are also the qualities that give us strength as parents today.

Two years ago, we were blessed through adoption with our son, Drew. He is now a lively, joyful toddler who fills our days with wonder and energy. Drew wakes up smiling, ready to run, climb, throw a ball, or dance to music. He has a fearless spirit, a love for exploring, and a joy that's contagious. Watching him discover the world has been one of the greatest privileges of our lives, and we are so excited for him to become a big brother. We know he will welcome a sibling with the same joy and love that he brings to everything he does.

Life in our home is full of both routine and adventure. On fall Saturdays, you'll usually find us watching college football together, while the rest of the year we love heading to local parks, festivals, or farmer's markets. We often start our weekends with a cup of coffee, laughter, and Drew toddling around with endless energy. Maggie works as a wedding planner, and while she leads a busy business, she has structured her work so she can be present for these important early years of childhood. Dave works in marketing and finds joy in filling our home with music.

Faith is central to our family. We attend a church within walking distance of our home, where we've found both deep friendships and a true sense of belonging. Dave serves each week by sharing his music, and Maggie volunteers in the Children's Ministry, caring for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Serving in this way has given her the joy of pouring into little ones while also gaining even more experience that she brings home to Drew and to another child one day soon.

As parents, we are committed not only to providing a safe and loving home, but also to honoring the story and heritage of each child. We want our children to grow up knowing that adoption is something to be celebrated, and that their connection to their birth parents is an important and beautiful part of who they are. We are committed to sending letters and pictures and are open to ongoing contact, including visits, as you feel most comfortable. Our goal is for you to have peace of mind knowing your child is loved, supported, and celebrated in every way.

Thank you again for taking the time to get to know us. We believe that God has a plan for our family and yours, and we trust Him with every step of this journey. If you choose us, we promise to give your child a home filled with laughter, grace, and unconditional love, and a big brother who can't wait to share his toys and his heart.

With love and gratitude,

Dave & Maggie
